Fort Myers, FL – [October 4, 2025] – What began as a small grassroots gathering has grown into a vibrant and meaningful community tradition. Kelsey’s Treasure Bunche Beach Yoga & Cleanup Event, a client of the Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Saturday, October 4, with another morning of mindful movement, environmental stewardship, and community connection.
Each month, participants gather at Bunche Beach Preserve for a free gentle yoga flow and sound healing session, followed by a volunteer-led beach cleanup. The event blends personal wellness with environmental action, reflecting a growing commitment to protect Southwest Florida’s coastal treasures while strengthening community bonds.
“Our mission is simple,” said founder Kelsey Clapham. “We nurture ourselves first through yoga and sound healing, then give back by rolling up our sleeves to protect the shoreline. Every piece of trash removed is proof that small actions add up to big impact.”
To date, volunteers have collected more than 50 pounds of trash from Bunche Beach Preserve this year alone, preventing debris from harming marine life and keeping the shoreline safe and beautiful. These cleanups are especially vital in the ravaging wake of recent storms, when storm surge and flooding often deposit additional debris along the coast.
Local businesses have also embraced the effort by donating monthly giveaways for participants, creating another layer of community support while highlighting the importance of shopping local.
The monthly event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, comfortable clothing, hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses; your typical SWFL outdoor gear. Cleanup supplies, including gloves and bags, are provided, along with a water refill station, light snacks, and dedicated team members to support safety and documentation.
