Sutumed Corp., a Southwest Florida manufacturer of high-quality surgical sutures and meshes, has been named the winner of the Regional Undergraduate Student Project of the Year by the Florida SBDC Network, recognizing the company’s outstanding collaboration with students in FGCU’s Global Business Strategy course. Guided by Dr. Daniel Rottig, the student consulting team produced a comprehensive Internationalization Plan that blended rigorous industry research, direct engagement with Sutumed’s leadership, and a strategic roadmap for global expansion. Their work analyzed international demand, competitive positioning, regulatory considerations, distributor models, and high value market segments, all while leveraging Sutumed’s strengths as an agile and quality driven medical device manufacturer. This award celebrates both the students’ exceptional experiential learning achievement and the meaningful strategic value their project delivers to Sutumed as the company continues to advance its international growth ambitions, marking a powerful milestone for a company poised to thrive on the world stage.
